Welcome

Welcome to our short course on early childhood development.

Take a moment to think about the following:

If you are a parent, taking your child to preschool, what would you expect from the caretaker looking after your child for the time you are away?

The education a child receives at a young age is designed to contribute to their overall development.  An effective early childhood development program can provide a foundation for long term physical and mental health.

Learning starts at a very young age and learning experiences contribute to the overall development of a child.  These experiences include:

  • The environment that a child is subjected to
  • The quality of care they receive
  • The relationships they build with adults, caregivers and fellow peers

The above will drive a child’s cognitive, emotional and social development.

Early childhood development is a shared responsibility between parents and caregivers that they trust.  It is important that caregivers and parents work together on a curriculum and strategies that will lead to the best results for the children.

For you, as a caregiver, investing the time and resources into the well-being of the children at your center is very important.

This course will teach you the fundamentals of taking care of the children entrusted to you as a child caregiver, helping you to always decide what is best for the child .
