Overview of what you have learnt
You have now successfully completed the course on The Basic Fundamentals of Early Childhood Development. You have acquired the following skills and understanding:
- The important role that child care plays in early childhood development
- Responsibilities of a child caregiver
- Overview on the development of babies, toddlers and young children
- How to setup an environment for early childhood development
- How to design activities to support the development of babies, toddlers and young children
- Caring for babies, toddlers and young children
- Communication: Observing child development and providing support and feedback to parents
- Child safety
These skills, along with your training as an early childhood development care giver, will give you the tools to successfully take care, educate, develop, observe and communicate with the children in your care and their parents.
Remember the following notes:
- The health and safety of the children in your care are always your first priority
- Each child is an individual, with their own frame of reference and in their own stage of development. Always keep that in mind and treat them as such
- Your activities must always be planned as age appropriate and developmentally appropriate for each child
- Always observe children and record your findings
- It is very important to build a relationship with the parents/guardians of the children and communicate on the development at school, problems identified and behavioural observations made
You will now undergo a Summative Assessment to test your knowledge and understanding of this course.
Upon successful completion of the Assessment, you will receive your Certificate of Completion as proof attendance.
