Course Overview

On completion of this course, you will have acquired the following skills and understanding:

• The important role that child care plays in early childhood development
• Responsibilities of a child caregiver
• Overview on the development of babies, toddlers and young children
• How to setup an environment for early childhood development
• How to design activities to support the development of babies, toddlers and young children
• Caring for babies, toddlers and young children
• Communication:  Observing child development and providing support and feedback to parents 
• Child safety

As an early childhood development learner you already have a range of knowledge and experience on the subject of caring for young children.  This course is to be seen as an addition to the knowledge and experience you have already acquired.  

Our aim is to provide you with an overview of the fundamentals of caring for young children, with the focus on your role as caretaker and working together with the parents of the child to ensure a foundation that aids in the future development of the child.
